#FacesofTrentU: Opportunity Sparks Passion for Economics Student
Jo Ong, Economics
“When I arrived from Malaysia as an international student in my first year, I quickly felt welcomed and at home in the Trent International community,” said Jo Ong, fourth-year Economics student.
Throughout his time at Trent, Jo Ong has immersed himself in the full Trent experience, getting involved throughout campus. He began taking on volunteer positions such as an executive position for an international regional group, and as the co-chair for international orientation. These opportunities quickly translated into part-time jobs on campus with the Economics and the International departments. Even better, his jobs on campus sparked a new passion and interest in interacting with prospective students and families – something that Mr. Ong hopes to pursue as a career path after graduating from Trent this spring.
