Trent Excalibur Rowers Top the Podium at 2017 Summer Games
Trent University’s Trevor Jones and Daniel Bullock both win double gold
For third-year Trent University students and Excalibur rowers, Daniel Bullock and Trevor Jones, summer 2017 has meant one thing: it is gold medal season. Both athletes made their way to Winnipeg to represent Ontario at the 2017 Summer Games on August 3 and, as front-runners in the preliminary heats, Mr. Jones and Mr. Bullock demonstrated that they were competing to win by capturing gold in the Men’s Single Sculls and Men’s Quadruple Skulls respectively. Both Mr. Bullock and Mr. Jones finished almost a full second ahead of the second place finishers.
On August 4, the two athletes added two more gold medals to their haul - a gold in the men's double sculls for Mr. Jones and gold for Mr. Bullock in the men's eight.
The gold medal wins follow an impressive year of Trent Excalibur Rowing and a record-breaking performance by Mr. Jones at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Bulgaria on July 23.
