Trent’s Director of Food Services Selected to Lead National Association
Mark Murdoch appointed president of Canadian College and University Food Services Association
Mark Murdoch says that he is honoured and humbled to be recognized by his peers after being elected the next president of the Canadian College and University Food Services Association (CCUFSA).
For Trent’s director of food services, the role of president of the CCUFSA is more than just a new position, it’s an opportunity to lead a group of people who share his commitment to enhance the quality of campus life in Canada through the growth and development of food operations. It’s this connection with other members of the CCUFSA that he has always valued throughout his 20 years as a member of the association.
“I have spent my entire adult working life in the higher education food service sector and I am passionate about meeting the nutritional and social needs of students, staff, and faculty,” says Mr. Murdoch. “The association helps me stay connected with trends across the country and to share best practices and other current information among peers.”
As a long-time member of the CCUFSA, Mr. Murdoch has served in various roles including treasurer, secretary, regional vice president and conference chair. He has also been recognized by the CCUFSA with a number of awards including the CCUFSA Award of Excellence and the Gord G. Mann Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to the industry.
“We congratulate Mark on this new role with the CCUFSA,” says Steven Pillar, vice president of Finance and Administration at Trent University. “Mark is a valued member of the administration team here at Trent. His hard work and dedication to his job shows in everything he does.”
“This year, with the inclusion of a Starbucks on campus in our new Student Centre, his work and leadership has been instrumental to bringing this new service to the University and we are grateful to have him here at Trent.”
Mr. Murdoch says that his new position is also a recognition of the innovative food service programs at Trent University, which he hopes to highlight while serving as president.
