Trent University Saddened to Learn of the Passing of William Garnet Gordon
Mr. Gordon began work at Trent University in 1969
The Trent University community was saddened to learn of the passing of William Garnet Gordon. Mr. Gordon began working at Trent University in Trent in 1969 as a member of the grounds crew. During his time at the University, he held several positions in the Facilities Management department including machine operator, custodial lead hand, and groundsman.
Below is an excerpt from his obituary notice:
Passed away peacefully on Friday June 23, 2017 at PRHC after a long battle with COPD. He was also a lung cancer survivor since 1992.
Predeceased by his parents William Gordon and Dolly (McKinley), brother-in-law Stewart, sister Doris, sisters-in-law Dorothy and Joyce and his niece Shelly. Garnet leaves behind his loving wife Patricia of 35 years. His loving son Roger (Karry) and daughter Kim Abraham (Steve). Grandchildren Jennifer, Julie and Jamie and 4 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Sherry Abraham (2001).
He will be fondly remembered by his brother Ross and sister Sheila, best friend Marg Gordon and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Garnet was a devoted family man who loved a good party; he was the best dancer on the floor and spoon player. He enjoyed his retirement after 30 years at Trent University.
The University extends heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Gordon’s family and friends, and to all who knew him in Peterborough and at Trent University.
