College Ball Puts Trent Pride on Display

Trent’s well-known college pride was on full display this weekend in downtown Peterborough at the inaugural College Ball.
The evening had everything one could expect from a formal night out – the dimmed lights, the dressed up tables, delicious food and drink, photographers and beautiful décor to accent the hall.
The night began with a buffet dinner, more than enough food to go around. Servers were on hand to see that everyone was comfortable and well fed. Then the college heads took the stage and delivered passionate speeches about why Trent is such a wonderful place and why they are more than proud to represent their respective Trent colleges, deeply moving and inspired in everyone a pride in school and college affiliation.
“At Trent you have so much opportunity to achieve and grow as an individual,” said Melanie Sedge, head of Champlain College.
Above all other things, the night was one of celebration. This was the first annual College Ball event, a test, an experiment, and in my opinion, a successful one. It felt formal, but fun. I was proud to be affiliated with my college, and was proud hearing my college head speak to the crowd. It was incredible to get off campus to The Venue downtown and put our Trent pride on display in the community!
