Trent Approved as Site for Peterborough’s New Arena Complex
Following a unanimous vote at a meeting of the City Council on Monday, June 29, 2015, Trent University and the City of Peterborough have announced plans to build a new arena complex on the East Bank of Trent’s Symons Campus. The new arena development will provide sports and recreation facilities, complement the surrounding Trent Nature Areas, and serve as an important step forward in the economic and social development of the north end of Peterborough.

Trent Chancellor Appointed to Order of Canada
On July 1, 2015, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, announced 100 new appointments to the Order of Canada. Among those selected to receive one of Canada’s highest civilian honours was Trent University alumnus and chancellor, Don Tapscott. Don Tapscott is recognized internationally as a leading authority on innovation, media, and the economic and social impact of technology.

Trent Market Garden Brings Organic Produce to Campus
Thanks to an innovative partnership between Chartwells and the student-run Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems enterprise, this fall, customers dining at one of Trent University’s food service facilities will be treated to fresh, organic produce. Chartwells has agreed to buy much of the produce that can be grown at the Trent Market Garden, which will help provide students with agriculture experience as well as provide locally-grown food on campus.

Recent Grad and Humanitarian Takes Education Global
Trent University International Development Studies graduate, Nejat Abdella, is a student of the world. Originally from Ethiopia, Ms. Abdella recently graduated from Trent and has now been accepted to the esteemed London School of Economics. She has also won the coveted Chevening Scholarship and has plans to open a school in Ethiopia, dedicated to the enrichment of youth through social and cultural activities.

11th Annual President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament Raises $30,000 in Support of Trent Varsity Athletes
On Thursday, June 25, 2015, golfers, sponsors, varsity athletes and coaches participated in Trent University’s 11th annual President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament at Peterborough Golf & Country Club. The event was a rounding success, raising $30,000 in support of the varsity Green & White Athletic Scholarships for exceptional first-year student athletes at Trent University.
