Champlain College Celebrates 50 Years & Welcomes Home Alumni
Champlain College hosts 50th Anniversary Reunion at Head of the Trent
During this year’s Homecoming and Head of the Trent regatta, Champlain College celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the College with a Champlain Alumni Reunion and lunch in the former Senior Common Room, now the popular student-run, Seasoned Spoon Cafe.
Hosts of the event included previous dons, masters, assistants, and devoted alumni. They were invited to reflect upon their experiences from over the last 50 years in the College and to reconnect with alumni from years past.
Many alumni from across the decades stopped by the reunion, which included a silent auction of current Champlain student photography encompassing the theme “Architecture of Champlain College”. All proceeds went to the student photographers.
A student videographer was also present to capture reflections of the College that will be compiled into a video for the end of the year. Many great memories and laughs were shared, but the special moments came as current students were able to interact with hosts and alumni from throughout the College’s 50 year history.
Trent University’s founding president, Professor T.H.B. Symons was in attendance and shared in meaningful conversations with current students, first year to fourth year, and handed out business cards, encouraging students to maintain connection.
