Discovering Trent Durham: Future Students Spend the Day Exploring Trent’s Campus in the GTA
Trent University Durham hosts Open House for prospective students and their families
The wind and rain didn’t stop students and their families from pouring through the doors and exploring Trent’s Durham Campus for Open House on Friday, November 6.
With the help of student volunteers, staff and faculty members, the event saw over 250 guests fill the atrium to hear about the various programs offered at Trent University Durham, including business administration, social sciences and the humanities, as well as college transfer programs and newer programs such as Social Work, Child and Youth Studies and Communications and Critical Thinking.
“Similar to this year’s Open House at our Peterborough campus, we also hosted our Open House on a Friday for the first time,” explained Joe Muldoon, head of Trent University Durham. “This gave prospective students a chance to engage with current students and sit-in on classes that were in session, allowing them to get a true sense for the welcoming environment and strong community that is offered at our Durham campus.”
Highlights of the day included an academic fair, mini-lectures hosted by faculty, a spin-to-win wheel, photo booth which offered prospective students the opportunity to win Trent University swag, campus tours and new this year, the chance to enter a contest to win first-year tuition free.
“Open House is a great opportunity to come and experience the campus environment,” said Tawny Weese, enrolment advisor for the Durham campus. “Prospective students have a chance to meet with current students, hear from faculty, and interact with staff which is really reflective of the experience will be like here at the Durham campus.”
