If it is necessary for you to work alone at the University during this period, we request that you check in with Campus Security so that we know you are on campus in the event of an emergency. For your safety, the security guard will be happy to check in on you, either in person or by phone, on a mutually agreeable schedule.
During the shutdown, please ensure that all windows and doors are closed and secure, and that any valuables are stored out of view.
Please note: Security will not unlock or provide access to buildings, labs, offices etc., unless the individual has made prior arrangements by having the department head contact Security with written authorization (e-mail).
Physical Resources Operations
No Physical Resources Department staff will be at work during the winter holiday shutdown except those manning the Stanley Adamson Powerhouse.
Only in the event that emergency vehicles need assistance to access the campus, or in the case of a heavy snowfall or freezing rain will grounds staff be called in.
Building heating systems will be set back, and most lighting will remain off to conserve energy.
A PRD on-call maintenance technician will be available 24/7 to respond to any building emergencies that arise during the break. Emergencies would normally be situations such as power outages, frozen or broken plumbing systems, fire alarm activation, etc.
PRD FixIt (fixit@trentu.ca, 748-1366) will be closed for the shutdown.
Building emergencies are to be reported to the on-duty security guard by calling 748-1333.
