Chancellor Dr. Tom Jackson to Visit Campus
UN World Water Day, Political Studies Research Day and Celebrity Pool Tournament among the events on chancellor’s itinerary
On Tuesday, March 22 and Wednesday, March 23, 2011, Dr. Tom Jackson, Trent University’s chancellor, will be arriving for a two-day visit to Symons campus.
On Tuesday March 22, Dr. Jackson will join Trent University in hosting a series of events to honour the United Nations’ “World Water Day”.
The focus of the UN Water Day celebrations will be in welcoming representatives of The Netherlands back to the Peterborough region. This will take place during a press conference in the Benedict Gathering Space at Gzowski College at 10 a.m. The Dutch deputy consul-general will be on hand to sign an MOU between the Greater Peterborough Innovation Cluster and the Regional Development Agency East Netherlands (Oost NV). This will be followed by a tour of the Trent University Water Quality Centre.
In the afternoon on Tuesday, March 22, Dr. Jackson will give a welcome address and introduce the panel discussion for Political Studies Research Day 2011: Canada, Global Warming, and the Political Economy of Fossil Fuel Dependence in the Benedict Gathering Space from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
In the evening, Dr. Jackson and esteemed guests will visit the Canadian Canoe Museum from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
On Wednesday, March 23, the chancellor’s activities will include a tour of the new Trent Community Sport and Recreation Centre and the Tom Jackson Celebrity Pool Tournament for Kids Help Phone, a Dream Catcher event.
