College Heads Announced at Trent University
New leadership in collegiate communities to enrich Trent’s learning experience
Dr. Gary Boire, provost and vice-president Academic, is pleased to announce the appointments of the College Heads at Trent University:
- Dr. Michael Allcott, Champlain College
- Dr. Doug Evans, Traill College
- Dr. Robin Lathangue, Otonabee College
- Dr. Melanie Buddle, Gzowksi College
- Dr. Carolyn Kay, Lady Eaton College (continuing from previous year)
“The College Heads play leadership roles in the intellectual and cultural life of the College communities,” said Professor Boire. “Interacting with students and fellows, they provide crucial support to programs that are designed to enrich the learning experience in each community within the larger University.”
The collegiate system at Trent University provides learning communities where lifelong members both residential and non-residential benefit from a rich and varied intellectual, cultural, social and recreational life. Colleges host events such as special lectures, artist residencies, athletic intramurals, seminars and co-curricular learning workshops. Each college celebrates its own character and traditions for living and learning.
All appointments are based on recommendations from search committees formed through the Colleges with representative students and fellows of the college.
As per phase II of Trent University’s Integrated Plan, the role of the Colleges and their impact on the student experience will be clarified leading up to Trent University’s 50th anniversary in 2014.
