Trent rowing team brings home eight "firsts"

Trent
University's rowing team brought home eight first-place standings and
six second-place standings from this past weekend's Head of the Rideau
regatta in Ottawa.
Trent teams were entered into 23 events on Sunday, September 29, and winning
Trent crews included the women's lightweight eight, women's lightweight
four, women's novice eight, men's lightweight four, men's novice eight,
men's single, women's single (Peterborough Rowing Club) and men's master
double (Peterborough Rowing Club). In second place were the women's single,
women's double, men's heavy double, men's heavy four, men's lighweight
double and men's lightweight single.
"This is one of the largest rowing programmes Trent has had in many
years, with over 90 athletes competing at both the varsity and novice
levels," says Athletics Director Bill Byrick.
Trent's head rowing coach, Jack Lapum, was happy with the weekend's events
and says, "The Head of the Rideau is a first chance for novice rowers
to experience university competition; we're off to a good start."
Trent's rowing team is now gearing up for this coming weekend's Head
of the Trent races and events.
