As part of Trent University's Rooke Lecture Series, Rhodes Scholar and Medievalist, Carter Revard, will speak tomorrow evening on the topic of "All Our Relations, All Those Boarder" at the Peterborough Public Library.

Mr. Revard has been crossing borders his whole life. Born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma in 1931, he was raised on the Osage reservation. He went as a Rhodes Scholar to Merton College, Oxford, and then to Yale for his Ph.D. A Medievalist, he is also widely admired as a poet, essayist, and storyteller.

"All Our Relations, All Those Borders" will be a meditation on what it means to be 'different,' 'like,' 'related,' and the 'same,' on the political lines drawn between countries, or around reservations, and the intellectual lines drawn around mind and body, past, present and future, poetry and prose, terrorism and crusade.

The Rooke Lectures, endowed by the late Barbara Rooke, Chair of the English Department from 1969 to 1973, are an annual series of lectures on English literature presented by visiting speakers and Trent University faculty. The Rooke Lectures for 2000-2001 are entitled Fabricating the Past.
