Students in Trent University's introductory women's studies class in Oshawa are staging three performances of The Vagina Monologues, a popular show exploring the experiences of women. The performances commemorate V-Day, a worldwide movement to stop violence against women and girls and to proclaim Valentine's Day as the day to celebrate women and demand the end of abuse.

Trent @ Oshawa's performances will be on Friday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 16 at 3:00 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. at Durham College in the Gordon Willey Building Room C113. Elizabeth Popham, Associate Dean will be introducing the final perfomance. Proceeds will go to Oshawa's Denise House Women's Shelter and to the Women of Afganistan.

The Vagina Monologues delves into the mystery, humour, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women's lives. Based on interviews with a diverse group of hundreds of women - from a Long Island antiques dealer to a Bosnian refugee and modified to suit Oshawa - "The Vagina Monologues" brazenly explores questions often pondered, but seldom asked: Do women like their vaginas? What do women call their vaginas? What can you tell about a woman by the way she moans when she is aroused?
