Trent University is pleased to announce that Susan Mackle, Vice President of Advancement, is this year's recipient of the 'Women of Distinction Award' from the Soroptomist International of Peterborough. The award is presented annually to a woman who has made outstanding achievements in her professional, business or voluntary activities during the last 10 years, has demonstrated exemplary character, integrity and leadership, and has been visible and vocal in her field. The committee reviewing Mackle's nomination noted that her nomination was submitted by her staff in Trent University's Development Office. Responding to the news of the award Mackle said she "was deeply honored, particularly for an award coming from the Soroptomist International as I have long admired the work they do on behalf of women. The fact that my staff nominated me for this award makes this recognition even more special." Trent University President Bonnie Patterson offered her sincere congratulations to Susan for this special award. "This award pays tribute not only to Susan's leadership in the Advancement profession but also to her volunteer work in the community. Her career accomplishments include last year's Beyond Our Walls campaign which exceeded the campaign goal and raised $17.2 million for Trent University. As the first female President of the Peterborough Rotary Club Susan continues to share her professional skills with community service groups, adding to the vitality of the Peterborough community. "
