for Aboriginal Students at Trent University At a presentation today at GE's Peterborough Office, the GE Fund pledged $75,000 (US) to establish seven GE Fund Ontario Undergraduate Awards for Aboriginal students participating in Trent University's Administrative Studies or Computer Studies programs. Resources Manager presented a cheque from the GE Fund to Professor
Jim Jury, Computer Studies Department and Bonnie Patterson, President
and Vice Chancellor, for the first of three payments of a three
year pledge of $75,000 (US) towards the Beyond Our Walls Campaign.
On September 28th, the University announced
that the Beyond Our Walls Campaign had successfully raised
over $17 million, including the establishment of over 97 scholarships,
bursaries and awards. In recognition of General Electric's contribution,
through this grant from the GE Fund, Bonnie Patterson presented
local General Electric representatives with a framed plaque. The GE Fund, the philanthropic foundation
of the General Electric Company, invests by improving educational
quality and access and in strengthening community organizations
in GE Communities around the world.
