FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Week of Events Free and Open to the Public
Friday, January 20, 2006, Peterborough
The Muslim Student Association at Trent University is proud to announce that the eighth annual Islam Awareness Week, filled with free public film screenings, lectures by prominent Islamic scholars, and an art exhibition, will take place from January 23 to 27 at Gzowski College.
Held every January, Islam Awareness Week (IAW) offers the Trent community and the public a great chance to learn about Islam and ask questions about a religion whose beliefs and practices are discussed, and sometimes misrepresented, in today's mainstream media. In addition, IAW aims to introduce people to the Islamic culture and demonstrate the important role Muslim scientists played in some of the world's great discoveries.
The eighth annual Event will feature a screening of the animated film Muhammad – The Last Prophet, as well as lectures from guest speaker Robert Heft, a discussion by a prominent Trent student, an Arabic and Calligraphy Workshop, and a week-long poster exhibition.
