FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Trent Students Raising Money for HIV/AIDS Research Thursday, September 22, 2005 (Peterborough) Trent students will be channeling their creativity and taking to the water to raise money for HIV/AIDS research at the third annual Float Your Boat event. Float Your Boat, set for September 24 at Millennium Park, is a fun-filled way to raise money for AIDS and AIDS research. Participants working in teams of four to eight receive enough cardboard, Styrofoam and duct tape to build a makeshift boat. One member of each fundraising team will then race that boat against other teams for the chance to win. Prizes will be awarded for teams placing first in their heat, as well as the most creative team and the team with the most spirit. Teams should arrive for registration between 11 a.m. and noon. Boat building begins at 12:30 p.m. with the races getting underway at 2 p.m. Bring along your change for the Float Your Boat barbecue. Burgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers and dogs will be served. Float Your Boat is sponsored by Peterborough AIDS Resource Network, the College Cabinets and the TCSA. All proceeds will be donated to PARN, which provides education, awareness and outreach programs to communities in Peterborough, Northumberland and Haliburton counties as well as the City of Kawartha Lakes. Float Your Boat is followed on September 25 by the AIDS Walk For Life, also at Millennium Park.
