CLASSES AT TRENT'S PETERBOROUGH CAMPUSES CANCELLED FOR FRIDAY, JULY 16

In response to the flooding, the declaration of a state of emergency and continued heavy rainfall forecast for this evening, Trent University has announced that all academic programming will be cancelled for Friday, July 16.
This decision does not affect classes offered at Trent's campus in Oshawa.
Cancellations in Peterborough include:
- All academic programs including part-time continuing studies
- Trent Athletic's summer camp program
- Summer orientation and registration programs for first year students and parents
To assist with the response to the emergency, Trent's essential personnel are requested to attend work, safety and road conditions permitting.
While minor flooding damage has occurred within some buildings across the campuses, the most significant damage occurred in academic and staff offices located in the basement area of Otonabee College. Some water damage occurred at Wallis Hall at Traill College. Crews are on site to secure the areas and clean up operations have begun.
The University's enacted its emergency response early this morning and its emergency response team has met continuously throughout today. Trent has been in contact with City officials to lend any assistance it can to the city's emergency response team. At this time, it is anticipated that normal operations at the University will resume by Monday, July 19.
Information about the status of Trent's operations will continue to be provided through a number of sources. Updates are available on the University's web site at: www.trentu.ca and the 'InfoTrent' hotline at 748-1234. News releases are being faxed and e-mailed to media.
