FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Demand for Trent University Programs Continues to Grow

Over 7,800 secondary students apply for fall 2004 admission

January 22, 2004, Peterborough

As of January 14, 2004, 7,844 secondary school students had applied to admission at Trent University.

This represents a 58% increase over 2002-03 applications to the University. Application volumes of 2003-04 were not used as a comparison to 2004-05 applications due to the inflated volume of applications received in 2003-04 as result of the double cohort phenomenon (two high school cohorts attending University in one year). The Table below shows Trent University's application statistics for secondary school students over the past three admission cycles.

The figures also show that applications to Trent's academic programs have more than doubled since 2001-02 and applicants who have indicated Trent as the first choice University has increased by 20% over 2002-03 levels.

"Trent's excellent programs combined with the attention given to individual students are enhancing the University's reputation as a destination of choice for more students," said Trent Registrar Susan Salusbury.
