FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Monday, January 19, 2004, Peterborough Trent Evening Quilters Celebrate their Fifth Anniversary with a Quilt-In Public invited to attend January 24 and 25 |
||
The Trent Evening Quilters will share their talents and their fifth anniversary with the public on January 24 and 25 at Trent University. This third annual Quilt-In will take place at the Symons Campus in Champlain College's Great Hall from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. both days. The work of the Trent quilters will be on display and the quilters themselves will be at work on their current projects. Quilt appraiser Diane Shink of Montreal will give written or verbal appraisals, for a fee. There will also be sewing machine demonstrations and supplies for sale. Members of the public are encouraged to come and quilt, or simply take in the work of others. There is no charge for admission. The event is the brainchild of Curve Lake quilter Alice Williams. She was Trent's artist-in-residence in 1999 and inspired the creation of the Trent Evening Quilters group. Ms. Williams sees the quilt-in as a way to showcase this traditional art form and also give something back to the University for its part in the founding of the group. -30- For further information, please contact: |
