Posted: Tuesday, December 2, 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Future nurses to be recognized at Christmas Nursing Social: December 3 Scholarship recipients, those who go "above and beyond" and top academic achievers to be honoured The Trent-Fleming Nursing program will honour its top three academic achievers in second, third and fourth year at its Christmas Nursing Social, scheduled for December 3 at Gzowski College from 5 to 8 p.m. Students who have received scholarships will also be honoured and the program's student association will present its "Caring Nurse" awards. These awards are given to nursing students, who have been nominated by their peers for going "above and beyond the call of duty." The Christmas Nursing Social will also be an opportunity to acknowledge all students and their successes in first semester. The more than 300 nursing students have been invited, as well as faculty members from both Trent University and Fleming College. "We look forward to the opportunity to recognize all nursing students for the contributions they make to the program and to the future of the nursing profession," says Dr. Lesley Lewis, director of the program. "The social will also give us a chance to meet new people and to get acquainted with one another." The Nursing program staff members are settled into their new space on the second floor of the South Wing of Gzowski College on Argyle Street and are looking forward to welcoming students, staff, faculty and community members. The Trent-Fleming Nursing program is an integrated, collaborative four-year
program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N.) Degree.
Courses in the program are delivered on both sites throughout the four
years. -30- Media representatives are invited and encouraged to attend between 5
