Posted: November 11, 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEWS ADVISORY Media representatives invited to OPAS satellite broadcast at Trent University OPAS to present 2003 Visionary Award to David A. Dodge Trent University will broadcast an address by Dr. David A. Dodge, Governor of the Bank of Canada on Monday, November 17, as part of the 2003 Visionary Seminar presented by The Office for Partnerships for Advanced Skills (OPAS). Dr. Dodge will be presented with the OPAS Visionary Award for 2003 and his address, entitled "Global Challenges, Canadian Opportunities," will be presented at Ottawa’s Carleton University. The presentation will be transmitted live via satellite and webcast to more than 4000 participants from thirty universities in nine provinces. This is the 7th annual Visionary Seminar. The Visionary Seminar is designed to provide a forum for industry representatives, university faculty and students to join together to assess an informed vision of the future. Previous Visionary speakers have included Ted Rogers (CEO, Rogers Communications Inc.), Jean Monty (then Chief Executive, Nortel), John Sheridan (President, Bell Canada), John Cleghorn (Chairman and CEO of Royal Bank Financial Group), Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO, Research In Motion and A. Charles Baillie (then Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, TD Bank Financial Group). The Office for Partnerships for Advanced Skills (OPAS) The Office for Partnerships for Advanced Skills is a partnership of universities and a number of leading companies, as well as Sector Councils and industry associations. OPAS is a national organization, dedicated to advancing Industry/University partnerships through a variety of initiatives and events which promote: lifelong learning, particularly via learning technologies; knowledge transfer from universities to enterprise; and dialogue on labour market issues.
