Posted: Monday, November 3, 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Career Centre Hosts First Annual Professional and Graduate Schools Expo Educational opportunities for Trent University graduates will be showcased as representatives from close to 25 schools will be on-hand at the Career Centre’s first Professional and Graduate Schools Expo, to take place November 4 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Champlain College Great Hall. Post-graduate and continuing education opportunities will be the focus of this networking event - an excellent chance for students to acquaint themselves with educational options available to them once they leave Trent, says Kristi Kerford, Career Centre co-ordinator. Students can expect to learn more about post-graduate studies in, for example, naturopathic medicine, accounting, teacher education, pharmaceutical technology and a variety of study-abroad programs at the expo. "Over the past year, there has been interest from both students and school representatives in an event like this, and in planning the Professional and Graduate Schools Expo, we were pleased to be able to respond," says Ms. Kerford. Also new this year, is a panel whose members will provide students with tips on applying to post-degree programs. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about what professional and graduate schools look for in applicants. The panel discussion will take place during the last hour of the expo from 2 - 3 p.m. in the Champlain College Senior Common Room. November 2 to 8 is Canada Career Week. The annual event is celebrated in more than 2,000 communities across the country, including Peterborough. The focus of the week is to provide Canadians, especially young people, with career information. -30- For more information,
