TRENT UNIVERSITY COMMENDS STUDENT "SHINE PATROL"

Trent University students who organized and participated in this weekend’s Shinerama event are to be congratulated for their commitment to the fight against Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and their dedication to making a difference, says President Bonnie Patterson.

More than 900 Trent "shiners" took part on "Shine Day" - September 6 - by washing cars, painting faces and shining shoes in exchange for a donation to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The students’ goal is to raise $22,000 by October 31.

" You didn’t have to go very far in Peterborough on Saturday to encounter an enthusiastic group of students," said President Patterson. "It was truly a demonstration of the students’ commitment to their community."

Shine Day wrapped-up a successful Introductory Seminar Week at the University.

Shinerama is Canada’s largest post-secondary school fundraiser, involving students from more than 60 college and university campuses across Canada. The campaign began in 1964 and has since raised almost $14 million to help find a cure for CF.
