NEWS ADVISORY

Please join us in celebrating 5 years of research! Open House celebrates five years of research at Oliver Ecological Research Centre

On Friday, June 20th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Trent University’s James McLean Oliver Ecological Centre is opening its doors to the public to help celebrate the research facility’s fifth anniversary.

The Oliver Centre Director Tom Hutchinson and his colleagues will speak at 3 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the researchers at the Oliver Centre and learn about the environmental and ecological research they are conducting.

The James McLean Oliver Ecological Centre, located just outside of Bobcageon, was donated by Marjorie Oliver to Trent University in October 1998. The property serves as an Ecological Field Station for both undergraduate and graduate student use.

Guests are asked to wear walking shoes, as informal tours of the 270-acre estate on the shores of Pigeon Lake near Bobcaygeon will be offered. The property contains a wide range of natural habitats suitable for teaching and research of both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
