DENNIS LEE PRE-LAUNCHES NEW BOOK OF ADULT POETRY AT TRENT

Canadian poet Dennis Lee will do a pre-launch of his new book of adult poetry, Un, to an intimate crowd tonight, April 1, through a reading organized by Trent University's English department. The renowned poet and author, famous for his children's book Alligator Pie, will read from Un, and discuss his approach to poetic composition.

Mr. Lee has been a writer in residence at Trent University several times, and also received an honorary degree from the University. His career-long familiarity with Trent, and the extent to which the Trent and Peterborough community engage in discussions of poetry, led him to do his first readings here.

Mr. Lee won the Governor General's Award in 1972 for his collection of poetry called Civil Elegies and Other Poems. For several years, he was also a writer for the children's television programme Fraggle Rock.

Tonight's reading is free and open to the public. It begins at 7:30 p.m. at 379 George
Street, in the studio of Powerhouse Video.
