Trent University Honoured for Commitment to Lifesaving Training

For the eighth consecutive year, the Lifesaving Society has honoured Trent University, and its Allan Marshall Pool, for having the second largest lifesaving program of all universities and colleges in Ontario.

"Trent has always been a leader in the race for the University and College Cup, which is an outstanding accomplishment given Trent's size in comparison to other Universities," said Bill Byrick, Trent's Director of Athletics. The Cup is awarded yearly by the Lifesaving Society to affiliated facilities who promote drowning prevention and train lifesavers and lifeguards.

The Lifesaving Society is a national volunteer organization and registered charity composed of tens of thousands of individual members and over 2,000 affiliated pools, waterfronts, camps and schools. The Society has been educating Canadians since the first Bronze Medallion award was earned in 1896.

Trent University is a leader in providing quality learn-to-swim, lifesaving, first aid, and leadership training programs, and is an authorized provider of training programs of the Lifesaving Society and the Canadian Red Cross. Programs and services for both the University and greater Peterborough communities are offered at the Allan Marshall Pool.
