FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THURSDAY, MARCH 20, 2003 Trent to Host 33rd Peterborough Regional Science Fair on April 8, 2003 The Peterborough Regional Science Fair, to be held at Trent University on April 8, 2003, is approaching quickly, and all interested participants are reminded that entry forms need to be submitted to the University by Thursday, March 27, 2003. Last year’s Regional Science Fair attracted more than 400 participants, from Kindergarten to OAC.This was the largest fair ever, and participating students represented more than 30 schools in the Peterborough region. Each year the fair is held in the Science Complex, Physics Building and Environmental Sciences Buildings at Trent University, and the Peterborough area has a strong reputation for sending high-calibre students to the Canada Wide Science Fair. Several past winners of the Regional Fair have gone on to win gold medals at the national fair. This year, the CWSF will be held in Calgary, Alberta, May 10 - 18. On the day of the Science Fair at Trent there will be up to 90 volunteer judges. Judges have the difficult task of evaluating projects and identifying those of the highest merit, while maintaining a positive experience for all students. Awards will be given out in the Wenjack Theatre at 3:30 p.m. As part of a continuous effort in encouraging students to be involved in science, winners from the Peterborough Regional Science Fair will be invited to display their projects at Portage Place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2003.
