FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TUESDAY, MARCH 4, 2003 GILBERT RYLE LECTURE SERIES TO FEATURE HIGH-PROFILE SPEAKER Trent University’s annual Gilbert Ryle Lecture Series begins on Monday, March 10, 2003, and will feature high-profile author and speaker Drucilla Cornell. Ms. Cornell is a professor of political science, women’s studies and comparative literature at Rutgers University in New Jersey, U.S.A. She has published seven books, the most recent of which is called Between Women and Generations: Legacies of Dignity (2002). Her work has been translated into French, German, Japanese, Serbo-Croation, Portuguese and Spanish. Ms. Cornell lectures widely to international audiences and is also an accomplished playwright. The theme of the
2002-03 Gilbert Ryle Lecture Series is "Whose Development?: Freedom,
Equality and Globalization." Specific topics addressed by Ms. Cornell
will include: All lectures will begin at 8 p.m. and will be held in the Champlain College Lecture Hall. These lectures are free and open to the public. The Gilbert Ryle Lecture Series is presented by Trent University’s Department of Philosophy. It is sponsored by the Franklin J.
