Over 100 New Nursing Students Arrive at Trent

The Trent/Fleming B.Sc.N. (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) Program, now in its second year, welcomed 104 new students this week. Combined with returning second-year students, there are now 200 nursing students on campus.

Dr. Lesley Lewis, director of the program, says the year is off to a great start: "It has been a smooth beginning and it's been exciting to have another great group of students in the program," she said.

A barbeque was held on Tuesday, September 10, to welcome new students and recognize top-standing students from last year's class. President Bonnie Patterson attended the event and told the nursing students they are a group of "pioneers, moving forward to a new standard" in health care. She added that, as a board member of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, she feels there is a lot of excitement in the community about the Trent/Fleming program.

"Leaders in this community are excited to see students studying nursing at this level," President Patterson said.
