Continuing Education Offers Foot Reflexology Courses |

Two courses being offered through the Continuing Education program at Trent University will give students insight into Foot Reflexology, a focused pressure technique based on the premise that there are zones and reflexes on the feet which correspond to all the parts, organs and glands of the entire body. Benefits of Foot Reflexology include deep relaxation and removal of stress, enhancement of the body's circulation, easier normalization of metabolism and complements to other healing modalities. Foot Reflexology: An Introductory Workshop This Ontario College of Reflexology (OCR) introductory workshop is designed for people who have an interest in health and wellness. The instructor will focus on what Reflexology is, along with the zones and basic areas of the foot as well as introducing several basic reflexology relaxation techniques. Students will learn a basic foot session routine. No prerequisites are necessary. The course will run for one day, on Saturday, June 10, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The cost is $125 plus GST. Foot Reflexology Certification Course This Ontario College of Reflexology certification is designed for people who wish to become full or part-time certified practising reflexologists. Officially recognized by the Reflexology Registration Council of Ontario (RRCO), this course focuses on the basic understanding of anatomy and physiology as it applies to foot reflexology and practical methodology. No prerequisites are necessary. The course curriculum consists of a combination of 35 hours of in-class instruction, 35 hours of independent study, and 130 hours of practicum. The next session for this certification course will run from September through December 2006. Specific dates will be announced in August. The course fee is $877 and includes your text book. Ms. Gelfand is a qualified instructor for the Ontario College of Reflexology, a Certified Instructor of Meditation & Theory of Yoga, and a professional coach. She has a MBA in Strategic Marketing from the University of Toronto. Ms. Gelfand runs a private practice in Peterborough.
