Fourth-year Trent University student Elspeth Arkell earned distinctive honours at Trent's annual Athletic Awards Ceremony, held at the PSB Wilson Athletic Complex on March 22.
In addition to her award for the top female participant in intramural programs for Lady Eaton College and the Excalibur Award of Distinction, Miss Arkell was the sole winner of the Arthur Cup, the University's most prestigious award for graduates who have demonstrated outstanding contribution, sportsmanship, participation, and leadership in the athletic programs.

In presenting the award, Director of Athletics Bill Byrick highlighted Arkell's contribution to her sport and to the Athletics program at Trent. "Elspeth has been a wonderful role model and positive influence on many of her fellow students, in both the recreational and competitive programs. She embodies the spirit of this award, and she has earned the respect and admiration of many student athletes," said Byrick.
