Trent University's HOPE Holds Second Annual Fundraising Dinner for Tsunami Relief |
||
Savour the Flavours of South East Asia and Help Rebuild Areas Devastated by the Tsunami HOPE (Helping Other People Everywhere), a student group at Trent University, is proud to announce that the second annual fundraising dinner in support of rebuilding Tsunami affected areas will be held on Thursday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Hall at Trent. This year's fundraiser will feature an all-you-can-eat buffet with traditional cuisine from the Tsunami affected countries of Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, as well as a silent auction, and a performance by the Trent International Students Association Choir. All proceeds from the dinner will go to the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) in Sri Lanka and the auction proceeds will be donated to Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW), a registered Canadian charity which provides bedkits to children in need. Last year, in collaboration with WUSC, TIP (Trent International Program) and Aramark Food Services, HOPE raised $9,000 and, as a result, helped over 500 students in Sri Lanka complete their education. Tickets are on sale now and are available for $12 at Gzowski College, the Bata Library and the TIP (Trent International Program) office. There are a limited number of tickets and they will not be sold at the door so be sure to get your tickets soon. Don't miss this chance to enjoy some mouth-watering food, great entertainment, an exciting auction, and the opportunity to give the gift of hope to those in need! For more information, please contact: Adrian Samarasekare at 768-1671 or Salma Yarjani at 768-4932.
