TV Ontario's 2006 Search for the Best Lecturer |
||
A message from the Teaching Awards Sub-committee TV Ontario has announced its search for the 2006 Best Lecturer and is asking students and alumni for their nominations. This is your chance to shine the spotlight on a professor you believe rises above the rest! A panel of judges will choose 10 finalists to deliver complete lectures on TVO's Big Ideas early in 2007. Trent could win a $10,000 scholarship. Nominations must be received by February 20, 2006. How to nominate your favourite lecturer (and what it will take for him/her to be in the running): 1. Send a persuasive e-mail (150-250 words) telling TVO why you think that the person you are nominating is a great lecturer. (Keep in mind that there is a difference between a great lecturer and a great teacher. There are great teachers who do not have to be great lecturers. If you are not certain what we mean by great lecturer, take a look at the winner of last year's competition at http://www.tvo.org/bigideas). 2. Please let TVO know in the same e-mail if you would be able to help them film your professor in action. 3. TVO need your nomination e-mail no later than February 20, 2006. 4. Please send it to: BL@tvo.org 5. TVO will approach the professor to ask him/her if he/she is willing to participate in the contest. 6. Once the nominated professor has agreed, TVO will ask him/her or the student(s) who initiated the nomination, to secure a video recording. TVO will need a recording at least 30 minutes but no more than 60 minutes in length. (Please keep in mind that video recording is most useful if it is shot from short distance allowing for clear and audible sound and a picture that clearly shows off the professor's face.) 7. In order for the professor to be a participant, TVO needs to receive a proper video recording and a signed nomination form (http://www.tvo.org/bi/Nomination_Release.pdf) by March 31, 2006 at:
