First Ever Tisalympics: Unity Through Sports |
||
Get ready for the first ever Tisalympics this weekend at Trent University. With the theme Unity Through Sports and hosted by the Trent International Students Association (TISA), the event will feature five sports – badminton, volleyball, soccer, track and field and basketball. The opening ceremony will feature a breathtaking medley of cultural dances as well as the "Charge to the Athletes" by Paul S.B. Wilson, former director and founder of Trent's Athletics program. Through this venture, TISA aims to promote its motto – bridging boundaries, connecting culture, breaking barriers. A myriad of regions will be represented at Tisalympics including North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Eastern Asia. Tisalympics runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Athletics Complex. Everyone is invited to come out and support the athletes. For more information or if you would like to compete, contact TISA at tisa@trentu.ca Posted October 6, 2005
