Business Students Hold Athletics Fundraiser |
||
The Athletics Department will benefit from a "reminder bracelet" fundraiser created by four students in Trent University's Business Administration program. The students, Margaret Dow, James Fisher, Kevin Baker and Josh Velez, came up with the fundraiser as part of a project in Prof. Raymond Dart's class to operate an entrepreneurship venture for one week. Athletics was chosen as the beneficiary because the group wanted to help promote healthy lifestyles for students by improving Athletics' facilities. "It's hard for students to maintain healthy lifestyle, especially with the stress of classes," said Mr. Baker. "The new field was a good step and we want to continue with that. New fitness machines and athletics equipment could promote more use of Athletics' facilities." The third-year students will sell the silicone bracelets for $4 each in a booth set up in front of the Bata Library all day Tuesday, September 20. The students were only allowed $5 CDN in start-up capital. Because of this constraint, advanced payment is preferred. The group will set up a specific day and place where students can pick up all orders. Photo: Josh Velez, James Fisher, Kevin Baker and Margaret Dow. Posted September 20, 2005
