Otonabee College Wins Great Race |
||
East Bank ruled the field at the Introductory Seminar Week (ISW) Great Race on Friday. Otonabee College won the relay race while Gzowski College placed second. Students with painted faces chanted and cheered in support of their college's team. The relay included a three-legged race section and a piggy-back race to the end. ISW wraps up Saturday with the presentation of the ISW Cup at a breakfast at Traill College. The ISW Cup goes to the most enthusiastic college. The college with the highest participation rate combined with the bonus points from the Great Race will win the cup. Following the cup presentation, students will hold a pep rally and then head out on the streets of Peterborough for Shinerama. Shinerama, a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis, is Canada's largest post-secondary fundraiser. It involves students from 60 university and college campuses across Canada. Shinerama challenges students to come up with creative ways to raise money. This year, students will be "shining" the Lift Lock. Car washes, busking and shoe shines are other ways students have raised money in past years. Post-Shinerama festivities are held Saturday night to celebrate the hard work of all those involved in Shinerama and ISW.
