The Human Resources Professionals Association of Peterborough (HRPAP) surprised Trent Business Administration graduate Brooke Munning with a special award last week. The award, which consists of a plaque, trophy and $500, is presented to the graduating student with the highest average in Human Resources courses from the Business Administration Degree program with a specialization in Human Resources Management. Ms. Munning graduated in May and is currently working at Fishercast Global in Peterborough. "I'm honoured to win this award. I feel Human Resources Management is a very important contribution to the Business degree," she said. "I'm very excited that HRPAP has recognized the university's program and supports its graduates." It is the first year that Trent has had graduates with the Human Resources Management specialization, said Jacqueline Muldoon, director of the Business Administration Program. "We had 15 graduates with the Human Resources Management specialization," she said. "We expect that will increase to 50 students over the next few years." Ms. Munning, who also served as a Trent representative on HRPAP's board of directors, believes the specialization is a great complement to the Business Administration degree. "I'm very hopeful for the program. It's great to have it at the university level." The plaque, engraved with Ms. Munning's name, will be retained by Trent and will have each subsequent year's winner engraved on it in a continuing basis.
