Students can pay for tuition and residence online
Trent University students now have the option of paying their tuition and residence fees over the Internet. With the launch of e-payment, students can pay their tuition and residence fees online. The Financial Services department is offering the online service in partnership with pay page provider Moneris. Trent University's IT department was integral in seeing the process through to completion. VISA and MasterCard are currently accepted for payment with American Express service coming soon, says Donna Hoard, manager of accounting services. "Not only is this new service more convenient for students and parents," she said. "Processing payments on the web will free up Financial Services staff to handle other student inquiries and ultimately reduce waiting times for students." Ms. Hoard said e-payment will also help eliminate lengthy line-ups when students return for the fall semester. Upon payment, the student immediately receives an on-screen receipt that can be printed as well as an email receipt confirming the transaction. Payment takes 24 to 72 hours to process. Moneris handles all security aspects related to the service. The web pages containing credit card information are encrypted to enhance security, she said. While students have the option of paying tuition and residence fees online, Ms. Hoard said the financial services department plans to expand e-payment to other types of student services in the future. Please visit www.trentu.ca/financialservices to pay tuition or residence fees online. First instalment payments are due Aug. 19 while second instalment payments are due Jan. 16, 2006.
