"Mr. Whitfield is not only outstanding in his academic achievement, but in his extra-curricular accomplishments, his array of interests and aspirations for the future." The Champlain Scholarship was also awarded last year to a local high school student, St. Peter's Secondary School graduate Danica Hogan. As well, Edward Stokan from Kenner Collegiate and Katharine Rogers from Lakefield College School received Special Admission Scholarships valued at $11,000 each over four years. "We're delighted that Matt has been awarded the Champlain Scholarship. What a rare honour and privilege," said Ms. Simpson. "We're truly happy for him. It was particularly moving to see the impact this great news had on this deserving young man. Trent's personal visit to PCVS to share the good news with Matt and our school community was especially moving and greatly appreciated," she added.
