Bicycle Collection Drive: April 9 |
||
Trent University students involved with Cycle North-South, a registered charity organization, are holding a bicycle collection drive on Saturday. April 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Peter Gzowski College at Argyle Street. Through Cycle North-South's efforts, more than 10,000 Québec bicycles have found a new 20-year lease on life in countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba, Nicaragua, South Africa, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Bolivia and Peru. Show your Trent spirit and prove that international co-operation can really work. There are thousands of old bicycles with little resale value that clutter up our garages and end up in a garbage dump. Millions of people in southern countries have no means of transportation other than their two feet, but now your old bicycle can become a tool to overcome poverty. To help cover transportation and handling costs, a minimum donation of $10 per bicycle is requested. In exchange, you will be issued a tax-deductible receipt equal to the value of your bicycle plus the cash donation. Don't have a bike? You are more than welcome to send a tax-deductible donation to Cycle North-South, P.O. 1242, Place du Parc Station, Montreal, QC, H2X 4A7. Posted April 8, 2005 |
