Craig Kielburger to Speak at Trent: March 10 |
||
All are welcome to attend a talk by Craig Kielburger, founder of the NGO Free the Children, at Trent University's Athletic Complex at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 10. The event is sponsored the the Trent Central Students' Association, the Office of the Student Affairs, and the college cabinets. Tickets are available at the TCSA office. Mr. Kielburger and his older brother Marc founded the organization Leaders Today in 1999 to provide young people with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and volunteer on international trips to countries like Kenya, India, Thailand, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Mexico. Leaders Today also has motivational speakers available to visit schools and groups and to facilitate leadership programs tailored to the needs of the participants. In fall 2004, the brothers released their newest book: "Me to We: Turning Self-Help on its Head" which has been met with resounding success. It contains stories written by Free the Children supporters such as Oprah Winfrey, Jane Goodall, Richard Gere, Desmond Tutu and others. The book and Mr. Kielburger's speech invite people to transform their lives through service to others, helping to create a better world for all.
