Finding out what's possible - Geography Awareness Week

The possibilities are endless and the experiences go beyond borders. In celebration of Geography Awareness Week, the Trent University Geographical Society (TUGS) is sponsoring "A Showcase of Geographical Jobs and Experiences" to take place November 9, 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. in the Bata Library Film Theatre.

This two-night showcase will see final-year geography students share their experiences with first, second and third-year students along with other Trent community members. Each student will share his or her experience through a slideshow presentation; these will take audience members from the North Pole, to northern Ontario, Iceland, Greenland and more.

"We're trying to illustrate what's possible," says David VanZeyl, secretary-treasurer of TUGS. "We want to encourage people to think about reaching out and finding out what's possible."

Mr. VanZeyl will be among the November 10 presenters. He will showcase his experience with the Yukon Geological Survey. There, he hiked around the St. Elias Mountains mapping the rocks.
