Trent University raises more than ever before for the United Way of Peterborough and District |

Faculty, staff, retirees and students raise $64,863, surpassing their goal by more than $10,000 The United Way donors at Trent University have literally outdone themselves, raising an incredible $64,863, far surpassing their goal of $53,000. This year's campaign, which raised more than ever before, started out on a high note with a kick-off barbecue at which President Bonnie Patterson and Campaign Co-chairs Julie Crook and Prof. Erica Nol presented a cheque for $21,918 to United Way. These funds were raised within the first two days of the campaign. Throughout the campaign, draw prizes, such as gift baskets, gift certificates, and a grand prize getaway for two at the Irwin Inn, were kindly donated and awarded to faculty, staff and retirees. "There was a lot of enthusiasm, creativity and excitement surrounding the gift basket draw this year. Departments really came together and created exceptional gift baskets increasing awareness for our campaign," said Co-ordinator Brenda Blackburn. "We are incredibly pleased and proud to be able to share this excellent news," says President Patterson. "Once again this year, the Trent community has come together for a successful campaign, demonstrating its commitment to the community and its support for the array of agencies funded by the United Way. Thanks to all those who contributed." Much behind-the-scenes work took place to reach and exceed an already ambitious goal. Thanks to Campaign Co-chairs Ms. Crook and Prof. Nol, as well as Brenda Blackburn, campaign co-ordinator. Posted November 2, 2004 |
