Nominations for the Ashley Fellow, 2005-2006 |
||
The Ashley Fellowship is funded by a bequest from the late Professor C.A. Ashley, longtime friend of Trent University and an enthusiastic proponent of the role which the informal contacts of College life can play in the academic pursuits of the University. The Ashley Fellow is therefore a visiting scholar who is a resident guest in one of Trent's five residential Colleges. By the terms approved by Senate in 1976, and in keeping with Professor Ashley's wishes, "scholar" should be broadly interpreted to include persons not necessarily holding academic appointment. Each year the Ashley Fellowship Committee is chaired by a College Head, typically one whose college hosted the Fellow the prior year. In addition, the Trent University Faculty Association, the Trent Central Student Association and the Graduate Student Association all elect representatives to sit on the committee. The committee requests nominations for the Ashley Fellow for 2005-2006. Nominations may come from any of the Colleges, or from individual departments within the University in conjunction with one of the Colleges. Nominations should include, but are not restricted to, the following: a current CV for the individual being nominated, a brief statement about the individual and the way in which she or he would contribute to the academic and collegiate life of the University, a letter of support from the proposed host College Head, any additional letters of support (internal or from outside groups/individuals), any other information that you feel might help the committee members in their deliberations. To submit a nomination, or for further information in preparing one, please contact Tara Harrington, Executive Assistant to the Vice-President (Academic) at 748-1011, extension 5278 or tharrington@trentu.ca . Nominations must be received no later than December 17, 2004. Late nominations will not be accepted. Posted October 15, 2004 |
