A Pine Tree Lecture - September 28

Trent University's Indigenous Environmental Studies Program of the Department of Native Studies and Environmental Studies present "Honouring Alliances: Indigenous and Environmental Resistance to Globalization" on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at 12 p.m. in Otonabee College's Gilbert Monture Lounge (formerly the Native Studies Lounge). This 2004/2005 inaugural Pine Tree Lecture will feature critic and environmental advocate C.A. Bowers and renowned Cree traditional teacher Michael Thrasher. All are welcome to attend. There is no charge for admission. About Michael Thrasher About Chet Bowers Dr. Bowers has been invited to speak at 32 universities in the United States and 29 universities in other parts of the world and he was recently invited to lecture in five German cities. He was also asked by Vice-President Al Gore to be the featured speaker at a dinner/seminar at the Gore residence on the influence of metaphorical thinking on environmental and technology policies. Dr. Bowers was one of six western scholars, along with the former Chinese Minister of Culture, invited to speak at the International Congress on Culture and Humanity in the New Millennium, sponsored by the government of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Bowers is currently Adjunct Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Oregon. Posted September 27, 2004 |
