A Surprise and an Honour |
||
By Kim Fielding Julian Blackburn College (JBC) celebrated one of its own on Friday, September 17. An award of recognition was given to JBCSA Executive Director Helen Wallis. Ms. Wallis began at Trent University in 1991 and in her first moments as a student, "fell in love." "It's been such a privilege to study here, and to help other part-time students any way I can," she said. For more than 13 years, Ms. Wallis has helped part-time students find their way through academics and life, along with another special contribution. "She always worked so hard to create a space for part-time students that is homey, welcoming and useful," says College Administrator and Faculty Liaison Tui Menzies. Ms. Wallis was awarded a plaque in recognition of her outstanding devotion to part-time students. It will be proudly displayed in the JBCSA Common Room at Trent's Blackburn Hall.
