Bonnie Patterson, President and Vice Chancellor, praised Trent's employees who contributed so much to the response to the state of emergency. "Trent's employees provided a swift response to the flooding. I want to thank all Trent staff and faculty, some of whom who had flooding in their own homes, and some of whom were on vacation; they persevered and contributed greatly to the University's response," said President Patterson. She added that students registered in the Athletics Department's summer camp program who were sleeping in the Athletics Complex on Thursday evening displayed great team work and contributed to the response to the flooding. "The overnight campers who were sleeping in the gymnasium were some of the first individuals to notice water seeping through the gymnasium's ceiling early in the morning. Their team efforts to unplug drains, mop up floors and dam doorways ensured that serious damage did not occur to the gymnasium's wooden floors." The President also praised City, Township and County municipal officials and their emergency response teams for the support they provided. "The community's response confirmed that residents in the Peterborough region support each other in times of crisis.
