The Spirit Within - this week at Trent Close to 70 pieces of student artwork based on the theme "The Spirit Within" are on display at Trent University this week, and make up the Ironwood Gallery. The artwork is on display from March 3 to 5 in the atrium at Trent's Gzowski College on Argyle Street. Also planned for the week, were several multi-faith discussions exploring various topics of art, spirituality and faith. On Wednesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Gzowski Atrium is a talk titled "Women, Faith and Society" - it features speakers from the Muslim and Bahai communities. On Thursday, March 4 at 7 p.m. in the Gzowski Atrium, Rainos Mutamba will discuss "Explorations in African Spirituality". On Friday, March 5, the Ironwood Gallery will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Earlier this week David French, senior tutor, Champlain College, spoke on "Art, Religion, and the Canadian Landscape." The Gallery, which features photography, paintings, sculptures and the written word, provides an opportunity for students to showcase their work. The artwork has been juried and winners have been selected in several categories. The week has been organized by representatives from the college cabinets and the Religious Affairs Committee.
